Brave Scoring Competition

Competition details

To celebrate the release of Patrick Doyle’s score break down, we’re delighted to announce our first ever scoring competition!

Rescore brief

Your score should be filmic and fitting of the genre. Feel free to listen to Patrick’s score for Brave but we would advise against simply recreating it. We’d love for Composers to apply their own style here, creating new thematic material.

Use whatever real or software instruments you have access to. Do your best to create a realistic sounding mock-up, but don’t worry if it’s not perfect. Entrants will not be marked down for not having the most recent or impressive sounding software instruments.

The music in this scene should evolve and develop with the narrative. Make sure to reflect the hypnotic sense of mystery and magic that the Witch represents, focus on the comedic interplay between the two characters.

Music should come in at 00:19 in this clip and should be out by 03:31.

Other than that, feel free to create something that shows off your capabilites as well as complimenting the visuals.

The video is provided under a limited licence for the purposes of this competition only. You may not share it publicly, nor use it for showreel, portfolio, or commercial purposes.
